Emma Brent contributes to the continuing development of a collaborative archival project between the IISH and domestic workers in the Netherlands. Through collaboration with community organisers, informal domestic workers, and different departments at the IISH, this project aims to create, describe and present an online archive by and of the workers themselves.
Emma is from South Africa. She has recently completed an MA in Archival and Information Studies (Media Studies) from the University of Amsterdam (2023), with her research interests rooted in community-based archival theory and practices. Additionally, she holds a BA in Linguistics and English Literature from the University of Cape Town (2018), and a BA (Honours) in History of Art from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg (2019).
