Bethany Warner is a junior researcher for Colonial Archives and Slavery Studies at the Institute of Social History. They are working with multiple projects, including on Voices of Resistance and The Global Business of Slave Trade, and is working on developing HTR models for Spanish, Portuguese and French language material. This research is taking place under the supervision of Matthias van Rossum, Filipa Ribeiro da Silva and Sanne Muurling.
Bethany has a research master’s degree in History from Utrecht University and a master’s degree in Archival and Information Studies from the University of Amsterdam. Prior to joining the IISH, she worked at the University of Amsterdam exploring the applications and possibilities of multimodal AI in researching collections of illustrated newspapers.
