CLARIAH
CLARIAH, the Common Lab Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities, aims to build a distributed digital infrastructure for humanities research in the Netherlands.
In 2014 a grant of 12 million euros was awarded by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) to a consortium led by the KNAW Humanities Cluster. In 2018, another 14 million euros was granted for a follow-up project called CLARIAH plus.
The work package for structured data and socioeconomic history (WP4) is led by the IISH together with the University of Utrecht (UU) and the Free University (VU).
Projectleader:
- Dr. Richard Zijdeman (IISH)
Steering committee:
- Prof. Dr. Frank van Harmelen (VU)
- Prof. Dr. Kees Mandemakers (IISH)
- Dr. Henk Wals (IISH)
- Prof. Dr. Jan Luiten van Zanden (UU)
As a result of the work in WP4, dataLegend was established. Furthermore, several datasets in our Dataverses are formed or expanded as a result of input from CLARIAH.
Richard Zijdeman is also member of the Board of CLARIAH. Henk Wals is chairman of the Supervisory Board.
