Anyone wishing to do research in the archival and library collections of IISH or NEHA, or in the Press Collection of the NIBG, is welcome to visit the reading room.

Pre-registration is not necessary, but visitors are asked to register at our reading room desk and agree with our terms of use on their first visit of the year.

By public transport:

• From Amsterdam Central Station: bus 42, bus stop Veelaan; bus 43, bus stop Borneolaan (+ 5 minute walk).
  Please note that due to road works, bus 42 will run a different route until 1 May 2026, bus stop Zeeburgerdijk/Molukkenstraat.
• From Amsterdam Central Station: tram 26, tram stop Rietlandpark (+ 11 minute walk).
• From Amsterdam Amstelstation: bus 65, bus stop Veelaan.
  Please note that due to road works, bus 65 will run a different route until 1 May 2026, bus stop Zeeburgerdijk/Molukkenstraat.
• From the Amsterdam Station Muiderpoort: tram 7 or tram 14 tram stop Javaplein (+ 8 minute walk); or by foot (15 minute walk).

By car:

On the ring road (A10), take the Zeeburg exit (S114), drive to the traffic lights and follow the signs Zeeburg over the bridge (left). After the bridge, turn right at the traffic lights. Turn right at the next traffic lights (Molukkenstraat). Follow straight ahead on Molukkenstraat, which becomes Veelaan. The large white building in front of you at the end is the IISH.

Please note, there is only paid parking in the vicinity of the IISH.
