House Rules
We welcome everyone to the IISH. By visiting us, you agree to the following house rules:
- You can use the facilities in the canteen between 9:00 AM and 5:30 PM.
- There are lockers available to store bags and other belongings.
These lockers must be emptied by the end of the day. - Visitors should not behave offensively or disturb others.
- The IISH is not responsible for any loss or damage to your belongings.
- In case of fire or other emergency, follow the instructions of the staff.
- In the event of suspected theft, the IISH will notify the police.
- If you violate these house rules or do not follow instructions, IISH staff may ask you to leave the building.
- In case of repeated violations, the director of the IISH may deny you access to the building for a certain period or permanently.
House Rules for the Reading Room
In addition to the house rules above, the following rules specifically apply to the reading room:
- Bags and coats are not allowed in the reading room. You can leave them in the cloakroom and use the free lockers opposite the reception.
- Bringing writing utensils, personal books, and laptops into the reading room is allowed. Transparent plastic bags for this purpose are available in the cloakroom.
- Bringing and consuming food or drinks is not allowed. This also includes candy, gum, and bottles of water.
- Photographing documents or publications without flash is allowed, unless stated otherwise.
- Filming, photographing (other than the collection), or sound recording in the reading room is not permitted.
- Bringing scanners, cassette recorders, and other recording equipment is allowed, but please ask one of the reading room staff before using them.
- Making phone calls in the reading room is not permitted.
- Pets are not allowed, except for service dogs.
