Organisation

The IISH employs over 100 staff members and has a three-headed management board. In addition, a number of fellows and volunteers are associated with the Institute. The IISH is one of twelve institutes of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW), which is financed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Sciences. The collections housed at the IISH are either owned by or on loan to an independent foundation, Stichting IISG. In 2016, the IISH joined forces with the Huygens Institute and the Meertens Institute to form the KNAW Humanities Cluster (KNAW HuC).

In 2016, the IISH joined forces with the Huygens Institute and the Meertens Institute. Together, they form the KNAW Humanities Cluster.

Organisation chart

The IISH has a three-headed board of directors: Lily Knibbeler (General Director), Karin Hofmeester (Director of Research) and Eric de Ruiter (Director of Data and Collections). Research and Collections each have sub-departments, each with its own head of department.
