Maissan Hassan

Maissan Hassan has an interdisciplinary background in social sciences and humanities. She has a BA in Sociology and Film from the American University in Cairo, and an MA in Arts and Culture (Museums and Collections) from Leiden University. Maissan has a rich experience working with a multiplicity of feminist and human rights groups, international NGOs, and research institutes.

She has a keen interest in developing and exhibiting archival and oral history collections. Her thematic focus includes social movements, women’s history, and gender issues.

In her role at the IISH, she is contributing to the development of the historical and contemporary international and non-Dutch collections and data.
