Rose Spijkerman studied history at the University of Amsterdam and obtained her PhD at Ghent University in 2021 (Dissertation: De innerlijke strijd. Eer en verwante gevoelens in het Belgische leger, 1914-1918). Her main research focus is on the social history of gender and in particular masculinity, and the history of emotions in the nineteenth and early twentieth century. She started working at Public Services of the IISH and is since June 2021 communication advisor of the institute. She is part of the editorial board of TSEG - The Low Countries Journal of Social and Economic History.
