After graduating from Durham University (UK) with a BA Hons in History, Samantha moved to the Netherlands in September 2017 to pursue her MA in Cultural History at Utrecht University. Her MA thesis Letters from 'een Vriendinne van de Waarheid': Etta Palm d'Aelders, citizeness-ship and the public sphere, 1788-1798 won the Johanna Naberprijs in 2019.
Between 2019 and 2020 Samantha worked as a Junior Researcher at the IISH on two projects: Exploring Slave Trade in Asia and Digital Forensics. Since April 2020 she has been working on her PhD project 'Migrants and the Courts in Amsterdam and Delft, 1600-1800' as part of the joint project Tolerant Migrant Cities? The Case of Holland, 1600-1900 carried out at Universiteit Leiden and the IISH.
