King Willem-Alexander will visit the IISG
King Willem-Alexander will bring a visit to the IISH on Tuesday, December 3rd. The visit starts with a tour of the archive, where our director will show him how scholarship and society are closely interwoven at the IISH.
After this, the king will talk to different researchers about their research projects, and talk to collections specialists about the methods they employ to make data and collections more accessible.
The visit will end with a round table conversation about the most important challenges facing the IISH. Representatives from the IISH's network, including the FNV, are part of the conversation. Subjects like financing the growing heritage collections, a closer and more equitable collaboration with societal organizations in the Netherlands and abroad, and the security and accessibility of data and digital collections will be on the agenda.
As patron of the KNAW, with this visit the king emphasizes the importance of science, heritage and the continuation of social-historical research in our society.
