Marlies Koffeman studied English Language & Culture at the Free University Amsterdam. After graduating, she spent fifteen years working at universities in different roles, such as registrar, academic counsellor and - eventually - head of a student services centre. She then made a career switch and worked for De Kindertelefoon for five years, where she learned a lot about working with volunteers. Marlies joined the IISH in April 2025, working as a volunteer coordinator on the HisGIS project.
