Talking to Manuel Tabuenca Gutiérrez (Barcelona, 1924)
Manuel Tabuenca Gutierrez is the son of CNT member Manuel Tabuenca Peña (Zaragoza, 1913- Mexico 1980). He was just 12 years old when the social revolution erupted in Barcelona in 1936.
Now, at 94, he found the force to leave Mexico, where he lives, and travel to Amsterdam, together with his two daughters, Socorro and Rosa María. He came looking for information about his father among the CNT-FAI records, deposited at the International Institute of Social History.
Delighted to find a poster of a meeting at Barcelona’s Victoria Theater in April 1937, in which Tabuena Peña spoke, together with other comrades, his son was happy to talk with me about his father and to share his memories on the explosive days of the revolution.
