Robert Gillesse

Digital Archivist

Studied History at the University of Leiden. He started working at the IISH in 2017 at the Collections department. In his role as a digital archivist he is responsible for:

  • Implementation of Archivematica digital archiving software
  • Writing of a preservation policy plan
  • DSA certification of the digital repository
  • Streamlining of digital archiving workflows
  • Advise and assist archive creators on the transfer of digital collections to the IISH
  • Advise on digital preservation in general

The Netherlands Collection Guide

Traditionally, acquisitions related to the Netherlands have included socialism and the labor movement in the 19th and 20th centuries. Since the 1970s, the social movement has expanded to include environmental issues, human rights, squatters, and similar subjects. The legacy of these new social movements can be found at the IISH as well.
