11 March 2025 - 13:28

On 7 March, the eve of International Women's Day, Francisca de Haan (prof. emerita of Gender Studies and History ) received a Suffrage Science Award for 2025. The prize is awarded annually to outstanding female scientists.

The awards were presented during a celebratory event in the Dorothy Crowfoot Hodgkin Building in Oxford. Each award season, there are around twelve laureates from disciplines such as physics, chemistry and more. Every woman receives a Suffrage Science ornament, which she will later pass on to a new laureate. De Haan was nominated by Ina van Berkelaer-Onnes, professor emeritus of special education at Leiden University. De Haan also participated in the panel discussion entitled ‘Inspiring Change’.
