About Wendy Goldman

Wendy Goldman is Paul Mellon Distinguished Professor of History at Carnegie Mellon University, focusing on the social and political transformations of 20th century Russia. From her thorough research into gender, industrialization, and violence in the early Soviet Union, she will shed light on how different areas of social life are drawn into commodity-production.

Her works include: “Women at the Gates: Gender and Industry in Stalin’s Russia” (Cambridge University Press, 2002), “Terror and Democracy in the Age of Stalin: The Social Dynamics of Repression” (Cambridge University Press, 2007), and “Hunger and War: Food Provisioning in the Soviet Union During World War II” (Indiana University Press, 2015).
