Abstract: From the 16th century onwards, ribbons became fashionable objects in both clothing and home interiors as accessory and symbolic items representing global commodities capable of connecting different regions of the world.

“Integrating small firms into the financial system: the case of the Netherlands, 1900-1940”
This paper researches the integration of small firms into the Dutch formal financial sector during the early twentieth century. Modern day governments spend large amounts of money and effort to help small firms access the financial sector, but these efforts are often not durable.
In 2019 was het 125 jaar geleden dat de Algemene Nederlandse Diamantbewerkers Bond werd opgericht. We vierden het jubileum met een boek, de diamantbewerkers.nl website en nog veel meer!

Op de achterwand van het IISG, aan de Zeeburgerkade, is een expositie te zien met een selectie uit het Historisch Beeldarchief Migranten (HBM), een archief dat wordt beheerd door het IISG. Het zijn foto's uit particuliere collecties van migranten die in de twintigste eeuw naar Nederland kwamen. Een samenwerkingsproject van het IISG en Museum Perron Oost.Van Heinde en Ver wordt in het weekend van 13 en 14 december afgesloten met de speciale vertoning van bijzondere filmportretten van Studio Take Twee.
Atlantic slave labor was the cork that fueled the economy. IISH, Leiden University and VU University Amsterdam will present the figures on 26 June. This presentation will be held in Dutch.
