In Memoriam Wout Tuinenburg

With sadness we have learned of the passing of Wout Tuinenburg. He was a director of the Metaalbond NVV and financial director of the Industriebond FNV.
Furthermore, from 1986 to 1990 he was general director of De Centrale Verzerkeringsmaatschappij en Depositobank. This bank and insurance company, founded in 1904 by Nehemia De Lieme, funded the IISH from the profits of De Centrale for many years. Tuinenburg filled an important role in the committee ‘Winst’ (Profit), which determined what cultural or scientific institutions were supported by De Centrale. He also provided much archival material when De Centrale moved to Utrecht. The IISH is immensely grateful for his efforts and involvement with the institute.
