Karin Hofmeester

Director Research

Karin Hofmeester is Research Director at the IISH, scientific director at the HSNDB, and part-time professor of Jewish Culture at Antwerp University. She aquired her PhD at the University of Amsterdam, in 1999.  
She is project leader of the Global Collaboratory on the History of Labour Relations in the period 1500-2000 and she is working on a project called Luxury and Labour on Diamonds as Global Commodity.

Main research interests:

  • Global labour history
  • History of global commodities
  • Modern Jewish (social) history, especially the history of Jewish emancipation.
