We received the sad news that our former colleague Piet Lourens passed away on December 10. His close colleague and former research director Jan Lucassen wrote an In Memoriam.
Since 2020, the IISH has been involved in the joint project program “Open Archief,” together with Sound & Vision and New Institute. Within this program, several exhibitions and workshops have already taken place, to increase knowledge about creative reuse of archives among both artists and heritage institutions.
The IISH and the FNV have jointly received a grant through the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment from the European Social Fund for their project Women Forward with Network V. Rosa Kösters will be the principal investigator of this project.

The exhibition Meet Rosa Luxemburg, on display at the IISH, has been extended due to great success! The works of twelve artists from the PhArt collective can be viewed in the public areas of the IISH until 30 August. The artists collective collaborate on exhibitions that center the life and work of an important thinker or philosopher.
With sadness we have learned of the passing of Wout Tuinenburg. He was a director of the Metaalbond NVV and financial director of the Industriebond FNV.

Door demografisch onderzoek van het IISG is vastgesteld dat er in de vijf Nederlandse opvangtehuizen voor meisjes van de Rooms-Katholieke congregatie De zusters van de Goede Herder 2 tot 4 keer meer jonge meisjes en vrouwen overleden dan normaal. Dit concludeert een samenwerkingsverband van de HSNDB van het IISG en de Radboud Group for Historical Demography and Family History onder leiding van Rick Mourits in de vierdelige documentaire ‘Meisjes van de Goede Herder’ die de VPRO in juni uitzendt. Het onderzoek is hieronder te raadplegen.
