Vandaag verschijnt bij uitgeverij Prometheus het boek Rusland - land dat anders wil zijn van onze senior onderzoeker Gijs Kessler. Het boek is een persoonlijke terugblik op de vijfentwintig jaar moderne Russische geschiedenis die hij van zeer nabij meemaakte. Hij bezocht het land voor het eerst in 1991 en woonde en werkte van 2002 tot 2016 in Moskou.
Today, the research report The slavery history of historical predecessors of ABN AMRO. An investigation into Hope & Co. and R. Mees & Zoonen was published. Authors of the report are Dr. Pepijn Brandon and Dr. Gerhard de Kok. It is the result of historical research commissioned by ABN AMRO and conducted by the International Institute of Social History (IISH) in Amsterdam.
Great news! Dr. Peyman Jafari, affiliated with the International Institute of Social history and Princeton University, has been awarded a VENI grant of 280.000 euro by the Dutch Research Council (NWO) for his project Oil Frontiers in the British and Dutch Empires: Land, Labour and Environment in the Making of an Imperial Oil Regime, 1890-1940.
Via an open call, artists Alice Wong & Simo Tse, Remco Torenbosch and Daria Kiseleva have been selected for the Open Archive 3.0 project. Open Archive focuses on the creative reuse of archival materials. The participants will use the open digital collections of Het Nieuwe Instituut, Sound and Vision and the International Institute of Social History to create a new media work in which artistic research and the creative process are central.

Hij ontving de onderscheiding voor zijn grote inzet voor de speeltuinvereniging De Waag, die 100 jaar bestaat. De Andreaspenning wordt toegekend aan personen die grote prestaties hebben verricht op sociaal, cultureel, maatschappelijk of economisch gebied voor Amsterdam, en aan personen die zich minimaal tien jaar als vrijwilliger voor een maatschappelijk doel hebben ingezet.
