Introduction
Nobody can possibly have missed the financial and economic recession, least of all those interested in social and economic history. Moreover, they, and consequently the readers of this newsletter, will be interested in its historical backgrounds.
With this in mind, we dedicated the Friends’ Day on 25 June to the history of financial recessions in the Netherlands. This issue features a detailed report of this lecture, illustrated with original documents from the Institute’s collections.
